However, there is a bit of a problem with the solid wood doors. This is that these doors are bulky and weighty. It is not about how strong and durable they are. The thing is that if these doors are banged or slammed too often, the surrounding walls could be ruined. So, a lighter alternative to these would be that of hollow-core doors. These doors carry the benefit of being light yet compact. The main core of the door is not made of solid wood. It is made of honeycomb cardboard. It is a fairly strong substitute for the normally bulky wood.

Solid Wood Doors vs. Hollow-Core Doors

Lightness and convenience are major benefits to the use of hollow-core doors. The doors are immensely easy to install. Also, the veneers and coatings can be done on them easily. The cardboard core soaks in the coating of paint and becomes stronger itself. However, the big problem with such doors is that they are too weak. They should be kept safe from a lot of intense damage. The doors may not last long as well. So, before you buy any door, you should choose your option according to your needs. This would be the wisest thing to do.
